Are you effin kiddin' me? The Mountains Edge... ok, I've been there when it was Timbers South. Which back then it was leaning towards being a hick bar. I really doubt the crowd changed much or the interior.
And if the interior didn't change, then my expectations for this show has plummeted, or perhaps skyrocketed. Skyrocketed only in the sense that it is sort of fascinating to watch car wrecks.
The venue does not hold enough capacity for an all ages show, unless this is a 21 show. If the latter, then it may do. But man, if the crowd hasn't changed and it's a bunch of drunk people, then there's going to be fights, and the stage is going to be rocked, and... dear god... Rob better triple wrap his microphone with foam.
But that's me talkin' out of my ass. I haven't been to the latest incarnation of this bar. I'll see what I can do.

Okay I took a peek inside. Almost the exact same setup as before (when it used to be Timbers South). The only difference is some frillies.
The stage is not raised. There are way too much tables and chairs. These are heavy wood chairs and tables too! They're not going anywhere I'm afraid. And the tables go nearly right up to the stage.
So, it could get rowdy and dangerously so. Mountains Edge is in for an ass kickin' and unfortunately Floater may receive some of the whiplash.
The only thing I haven't figured out is if the crowd is still trending a little hicky. Or is that hickish?

Bend can be violent... it's a hit or miss type of thing. Mostly a miss, but then it surprises you.
Who knows, maybe this show could surprise me.. maybe turnout will be low? Because with less than a month till the show, I still don't see any posters and have heard of no promotion.

I wonder if that's a venue thing or the street team is thinning out everywhere. Chico last i saw was.. well... Me. outlying areas are covered but the town itself is pretty sparse

I'd also heard that there's biters in Bend.

I've always had a good experience at Floater shows in Bend, different kind of crowd there............redneck potheads might be a stereotype if I was to throw one out there for Floater show attendees in Bend

This show is still on the performance calendar at Floater Dot Com, so I'd say that it's for sure.

Well good luck to you! And I know the feeling--half the time when I hit here I'm still waking up so it's hard to miss shit when you're not quite there yet

This should be an interesting show.

It was pretty good! They actually pulled out a foldout stage... heheh.. so it worked just fine, except for the part where someone bumped the mic into Rob's mouth. I thought I told that fella to double wrap! Also the venuw moved most of their tables outside to make room for the crowd. I liked this show better than recent ones at the Midtown. Perhaps because the acoustics are better. Though the sound engineer at times had Dave's guitar too amped up on treble. Rob had mic problems for the first song, then he couldn't hear his vocals very well, even by the start of the third song.
Bunch of new songs, including Leave the Light On which has undergone a lot of changes compared to the youtube version from a year or two ago. Seems like it lost some of it's luster, or hopefully I'm getting my songs mixed up.
don't actually remember much of the set... let's see... opened with:
(this is definitely out of order..)
An Apology
Mexican Bus
new song (Matador?)
Weightless
Minister
new song...
In Transition
Danny Boy
Intermission
Centerfold
Song from Alter (forget which one.. Crusatyr? Long Gone?)
My Burden
Clean Plastic Baby
Cannonball
new song
encore:
new song
Cinema (which they totally butchered!)
Not sure how many new songs they played but it was at least four, possibly five.

Yeah I don't know what the meth thing was about. It must have happened well after I had left the venue. We stuck around for about a half hour after the show so my friend could get all three autographs and we didn't see anything funny.
I told my son's mother about the meth comment, and she said, "well hey they're in Bend."

That show was great. Sold out. I'm glad we got our tickets right when we arrived in town. I personally saw at least 20 people turned away at the door.
Small place, which was nice.
We were up front getting squished and trying to prevent the speakers from getting shoved onto the stage. That's how the mike hit Rob, the speaker got pushed down and hit the stand. Ouch! He's a trooper, that's for sure. He stopped for a minute or two then went right back to singing, after requesting that we all continue to have fun but WITHOUT socking him in the mouth.
Here's the setlist:
Apology
Mexican Bus
Matadors
Weightless
Minister
Cannonball
Long Gone
Danny Boy <--mike incident
Leave a Light On
My Burden
You Taught Me
<break due to bass amp issues>
Centerfold
Wondering
In Transition
Clean Plastic Baby
encore:
? list has Simplest Way and Concentrate but only one of them was played. I'm not sure, but I think it was Concentrate.
Cinema
