Recording/gigging guitars:
Fender Stratocaster '59
Fender Stratocaster '73
PRS McCarty
Gibson Les Paul Studio '91
MusicMan John Petrucci signature model, 6 string, no piezo

Recording/gigging amps:
Ampeg VT-40
Vox AC30
Carvin BelAir 212
selfbuilt 100W tubeamp, based on Mesa
selfbuilt 60W tubeamp, based on Mesa

Recording/gigging pedals:
11 selfbuilt Ibanez TS-9 clones, all with slightly different characteristics and base sounds
Dunlop CryBaby, can't remember exact model, it's the one with volume pedal built-in and true bypass
Boss Flanger, Chorus and Delay pedals
some old 70's Equalizer where the brand name has worn off over a decade ago
A closetfull of other random pedals that I use very rarely such as  Octavers, Harmonizers and other gimmicks

Home rig:
ESP/LTD H-100FM
Epiphone SG from early 90's
customized Epiphone strat copy
ESP/LTD M-50
Roland Microcube
Ibanez TS-808
Vox Wah

Changed my setup quite a bit during the last couple of weeks. The following axes were all sold:
MusicMan John Petrucci model
both ESP/LTD's
Epiphone SG
Epiphone Strat

Previously sold the LP Studio, while a great guitar, it wasn't really my style, much like the JP model.

My current rig that's in active use includes the previously mentioned Fender Strats, coupled with a brand new olympic white Fender Stratocaster Jimmie Vaughan signature model, which has just the style of neck I prefer, thick like a brick and like advertised, the sound is as thick as Texas. Also bought a Yamaha acoustic guitar as well as some stomp boxes, namely couple of boutique pedals, such as OCD and a TS-808 clone with couple of mods (switch between led clippers, OP amp only or the traditional diod clippers)

Pics of the TS-808 clone
http://muusikoiden.net/dyn/users/53740.jpg
http://muusikoiden.net/dyn/users/53741.jpg

Also bought a Uraltone Jr kit (http://www.uraltone.com/kauppa/product_info.php?products_id=1413) just for the heck of it, coupled with an attenuator kit also from Uraltone . And if that's not all, I also acquired a Budda amp that cost me an arm and a leg, but I've yet to actually receive that one from UK. Sold the Carvin amp and MusicMan JP model to get that one.

the only time i've ever run across an LB-70 it was gone five minutes later.. i swear to god.   i didn't even have time to think about it.

so i figure i should update this, since i nolonger have the same rig that i originally listed on here.

   my rig is now this!

Warwick corvette standard fretless 4 string (i play this primarily)
     Epiphone thunderbird
Micheal Kelly Firefly Acoustic bass ( same as robs new acoustic)

for amplification i'm now using a TC Electronics RH450.    it's 8 pounds, digital circuit, 4 band sweepable EQ, on board tuner, 3 memory presets, spectral multi frequency compression, isolated headphone circuit,  and it's 450 watts of power rates equivilent  dbs as all tube heads of the same wattage ( this thing is louder than my SVT4 PRO!)

i'm running that through either a tc electronic rear ported 2x12, or my Pre-Fender SWR Goliath 3 4x10.
and course, i can also run it through both at the same time, but i havent' needed to yet.

and then there are the pedals,   i'm currently using an EBS Chorus pedal, an EBS ValveDriver (tube powered overdrive preamp) and a boss DD3 delay.

   next on my wish list?
EBS DPhaser  and a diifferent delay ( haven't really decided on one yet. but hopefully i'lll be able to go to both bassplayer live! and NAMM this year. if i do, i'll let you all know what i find!!!)
a 5 string fretless ( an old school early 90s warwick streamer would be nice, or something else if i run across something fantastic.)

and i'm still holding out for a fender jazz that was made in 1978 or earlier.

Good luck on a Pre-CBS Jazz.

oh and uh... talk to bass nw, they can order anything and if you buy from them, you get free setups on that bass for as long as you own it. ( still have to buy strings but the labor is free!!)  that will save you alot of money over the years trust me.

also, check this out.. if you haven't already.

 http://www.mkbayou.com/

www.bassnw.com          1-866-624-1722
and if you do call them and talk to them, tell them jesse says hi.  they know me really well over there.  if they sound confused, mention the kilt.  the owner is evan sheeley ( TKO), then there is Eddy who is the other guy in charge,   Steve Fossen also works there, he is the original bassist for Heart.

the only thing i'm seeing that i don't like here is that the basses don't have a pick up on them..  slightly disappointing.

if you end up getting one, you better let me know so i acan come up and play it.   good luck!!!

the bayou was discontinued a few years back. Saga makes one that is fairly decent. two other companies make them National and Ecko but they run abou 900, i found one michael kelly but it was in Western australia and shipping alone was about 400

Claypool has a bayou, (search the boingboing vid on youtube)  he has a pickup, single coil by the neck.  Fishman has a pickup that attaches to the bridge of a dobro/resonator style aswell. could run it through a takamine cool tube onboard tube preamp.

do what i did nicole.     to help me explain, i'm calling in a marker i have with my old friend billie mays.

jesse forged his ability to play in 30 days and you can too!!

just follow my easy step by step method and you can be playing next to steve vai in just 30 days!

first turn on your computer and open up ultimate guitar dot com!   www.ultimate-guitar.com

then take your favorite playlist from your itunes or any other media based audio program!

find your favorite songs and look them up on ultimate guitar dot com!

the numbers on the lines represent where your fingers go!  the lowest line, is the lowest sound ing string on your guitar !  it's nver been so easy!!

then just count the metal bars called frets that go across the neck of your guitar, count to the number shown onthe tab and put your finger there!!

now at this point most people get really confused trying to do this by themselves, but no longer!!

just make a special trip down to your favorite, nearly obsolete mega bookstore chain location of BORDERS!   and pick uour self up a copy of "guitar playing for dummies!"  take that sucker home and read up, in just a few short hours you'll have all the information needed to make sense of those tricky online tabs!!

in the finale step, you spend at least 5 hours a day practicing your favorite songs from your personal playlist!   do this for 30 days and you can be a rock star just like me!

but seriously that how i intiially learned.

i just looked online for tabs of the songs on my itunes.   if it was too hard i'd move on, but if it was at least partially figure-outable, i'd put it onto it's own playlist.

once i built a play list of songs i started playing them every day, over and over again.   i played until my hands hurt. then i kept playing until they went numb, then i kept playing until they hurt again, every day for 30 days.

in hte mean time i started studying the magazines and i picked up bass playing for dummies. ( truly a great book)

by doing that, i very rapidly found myself able to not only play, but to play and sing at the same time. now 5 years later, i'm nearly entirely self taught ( with exception to a few private lessons to help me get over plataeu's) and i'm getting ready for music school.

and not to toot my own horn but i've been told by alot of people i'm extremely good. ( i laugh inside when they do though)  in fact the other night a girl told me i was the best she had seen. (i wanted to say "you don't get out much do you?" but i didn't)

so, you can do it.  just put some time into it.  buy new strings, read your ass off.   becuase i've always felt behind the power curve, i've studied the hell out of gear and have a really good knowledge base when it comes to amps, and effects.  better probably than alot of "proper" musicians i've known.

that leads me to another thing i've done.  i've found good musicians and sucked their brains for any tidbits of knowledge i could get.

so, get your guitar out.  go buy a copy of guitar for dummies.  read it.  go buy a couple sets of new strings, ( your lucky, guitar strings are cheap) and then put them on your guitar.
look at your neck as if your looking down the barrel of a rifle ( from the bridge towards the headstock) your neck should curve away from your strings just enough so that they don't touch the frets.
if it doesn't,  you should get it set up by a luthier. ( guitar repair guy)

if the strings buzz when you pres on the frets closest to the NUt ( read the book) then you need to put alittle less tension on the truss rod( effectively making the neck curve a little more away from the strings.)   be careful no to do to much, only a little turn at a time. ( i could also mean that you need a new nut, but thats why i said take it to a luthier first.  a good, proper set up can make all your money)

then make sure its in tune and it's intonated (read the book, but basically it means that the 12 fret natural harmonic is the same key as if you pressed down at the 12th fret.)

  THEN PLAY YOUR ASS OFF!!!

I took two semesters of guitar (oddly enough with a guy that, apparently, was in a band with Tom Addison and/or Aaron Cuadra or at least friends, don't really remember how we drunkenly pieced that together)

Learned the basics and promptly forgot them and started just fucking around and familiarizing myself with the fretboard.

i practice about 4-5 hours a day.   the typically reccomended minumum is an hour.   i say fuck the recommended minimums.

the hour of practice a day is like the hour of practice a day you should be doing by yourself if you've been playing all day otherwise, becuase you were recording, or playing a gig, or practicing with a band.

I did a one show project in seattle right before i left ( it turned  into two shows), we would get together and practice for two or three hours, everytime the other  guys were smoked at the end. but i would go home and practice another 2,3 or 4 hours.

seriously, lots of practice time at once helps.  if nothing but your stamina

Practice is definitely a must! Even away from a band practice. I also recommend that new bands try covering songs, so at least they can get the feel for how songs are put together. I don't think it really matters what you cover, I mean, you're not committed to playing it live. But it will help you hone your own songs.
